René Eberle

Born in St. Gallen on 26-04-1945

After studies (economics) I've spent several years abroad in various positions from 1967 to 1972 (Belgium, Canada, United States).

Returning to Switzerland I was offered a job by UEFA(Union of the European Football Association) where I stayed from November 1972 until my retirement in 2008, in the last 14 years as Head of the Competition Logistics Department. UEFA was until 1995 based in Berne and then moved to Nyon on the Shores of Lake Geneva. During my time at UEFA the organization grew from 12 (twelve) staff members to close to 400.

Since my retirement I am still quite active for both UEFA (Match Commissioner) and FIFA (Match Commissioner, Security specialist).

My job has allowed me and still allows me to combine work with my passion(s) - sports, in particular football, and travelling across the world and this has allowed me to visit so far 117 countries.
